Frida Gråsjö (b. 1978) has a background in law and lives in Karlstad with her family and their dog. She has published thirteen novels to date in feel-good and cosy crime, and her books are filled with warmth, humour, and affectionate nods to both Agatha Christie and the Kitty books of her childhood.
Gråsjö's most recent novel, En bild av död / An Image of Death, was the fifth most listened-to crime and suspense title on Storytel in December 2025 and topped the platform’s Christmas list for twenty-one consecutive days.

When Elin Fors is brutally dumped live on air, she finds herself not only without a boyfriend and a place to live, but also forced to take a break from her job on the television programme The Investigators. The solution arrives in the form of a bright blue envelope that drops onto her doormat. The sender is Björklanda Law Firm.
With nothing left to lose, she packs a bag and heads for the small town of Björklanda in Dalsland to take on her first assignment as an investigator for the firm. Fortunately, the town's sharpest quiz team offers unexpected help. But who is helping and who is hindering, when everyone knows everyone else and the community teems with eccentric characters?
En fråga om mord / A Question of Murder (2024) and En bild av död / An Image of Death (2025) are the two books in Frida Gråsjö's cosy crime series The Law Firm in the Middle of Nowhere, set in the fictional Dalsland town of Björklanda.

It is the mid-1980s, and in the apartments of the beautiful Wavemaster's Mansion in Åmål, a group of people connected to the local newspaper lead their lives. Journalist Catrine shares her home with her adult daughter Olivia, who has just returned from a long journey abroad. In the neighbouring flat lives Karla-Marie—or KM, as she is most known—the world's most celebrated crossword creator.
One day, a young woman is found dead in the stairwell. The victim, Sussie, worked as an assistant to Roberto, KM's greatest rival, and it is clear that she has been murdered. The evidence suggests that the killer also lives in the building, and KM hires the young Olivia to help investigate the crime. But can the crossword compiler and her newly appointed assistant solve the case before more people die? It soon becomes clear that murder can be just as tricky to solve as even the most advanced crossword.
Ett annat ord för mord / Another Word for Murder is the first instalment in Frida Gråsjö's new cosy crime series, The Crossword Murders, to be published in March 2026 by Pia & Co.
Hanna Sand, an overworked lawyer from Stockholm, has travelled to Dalsland to care for her grandfather Oskar, the lock-keeper at Lock 17 on the Dalsland Canal. A few quiet weeks in the countryside should do her good. But the harmony she hopes for soon evaporates when she realises that the lock-keeper's cottage has become the village's gathering place, where everything from community business to local gossip is discussed.
When a death occurs that everyone in the village—including the police—dismisses as an accident, Hanna launches her own investigation, with her grandfather at her side. Long-suppressed conflicts between neighbours come to light, and there is no shortage of suspects. Hanna becomes increasingly convinced that a murderer is at large in the idyllic village of Södra Strandviken.
In the Murder at Lock 17 series, Frida Gråsjö delivers a perfect blend of humour and page-turning suspense. Three novels have been published to date: Vatten över huvudet / In Too Deep (2023), Beska droppar / Bitter Pills (2024), and Lösa skott / Shooting Blanks (2025), with a fourth, Gröna fingrar / Green Fingers, due in July 2026.
Beatrice Blom has always done what's expected of her. Her appearance is impeccable, and her career as a lawyer is on track. Everything should be perfect—yet something feels off. She brushes aside her anxiety with shopping and daydreams of love and weddings, while growing increasingly envious of her sister Cilla, who has always followed her own path—juggling twin toddlers while running her own catering business.
After a disastrous date, Bea sees one of the judges at her court meeting a well-known criminal in a dark alley. And soon after, she is forced to take a break from work while malicious allegations against her are investigated.
Devastated, Bea waits helplessly for the situation to be resolved—and to pass the time, she takes a job as a gardener at Bodin's Bed & Breakfast. She also signs up as a wedding officiant, bringing far more weddings into her life than she ever expected. In this new routine, she begins to rethink what truly matters and what she really wants from life.
When the problems at the court come to a head, Bea must find the courage to stand up for herself—with help from her sister Cilla and the wedding photographer Markus. But is it too late to untangle the knots she should have faced from the start? And what happened to the dreams she had as a young woman, before duty and expectation got in the way? Who—and what—is her heart really beating for?
